January 10th, 2010 (Chicken Pasteles) Home made Puerto Rican

I can't say much about this meal except even when I micro waved it to eat it out of pure hunger it was still auesome. Manny Mad Dogs mother hand Made these and shipped these from Puerto Rico to Brooklyn. First time I tried them, I micro waved them for 5 minutes and chomped down. So good but not done the way they were intended. So on Mannys B-Dy. we did it right. We boiled them and ate them OG style. FYI, Pasteles are rice, chicken, spices, wrapped in Bananna leaves and wax paper. There are prolly a few extra things going on but those are trade secrets. At any rate, everything was soft and delicious (minus the leaf and wax paper which u not supposed to eat). That being said we were all drunk but they were auesome and filled us up nice. Unfortunatley, we dont have pics of that meal but here is what it should look like like,

  1. I've never heard of rice in pasteles but I think they're pretty much a free for all. They're basically puerto rican tamales. I've had some made of yuca, some with raisins, some with hard boiled eggs. The traditional way I've had them is with chunks of stewed beef

Making pasteles, by the way, is a friggin' chore. Grating green platanos and tying those suckers up requires a boriqua production line. True story.
